I’m running to bring practical solutions, honest accountability, and a renewed focus on the public interest. This campaign is about tackling the challenges that matter most — affordability, opportunity, and trust in government.

Signatures are required for any candidate to qualify for placement on the Republican primary ballot. Jim has set a goal of gathering 5,000 signatures to ensure his name appears as a choice for voters. Adding yours helps him reach that threshold. A signature isn’t a commitment to vote for him in the primary or the general election.
All petitions must be completed by February 2, 2026, as Declarations of Candidacy are due the following day.
To sign, you must be a registered Republican voter. State law allows each Republican to sign the petition of only one gubernatorial candidate.

I’m Jim Ellison, a former NMPRC commissioner who consistently stood up for ratepayers and the public interest. I’m a problem-solver, not a politician — someone who believes state government can work better for everyday New Mexicans.
I’m not backed by establishment power or big-money interests. I’m driven by a commitment to fairness, accountability, and service.
WHY I AM RUNNING
Serving as commissioner showed me how much impact one person can have when they put the public first. But I also saw where our state policies are falling short — and how the status quo keeps us from moving forward.
Rising costs, unsatisfactory public education system outcomes, high crime rates, and high poverty rates demand action, not vague promises.
We all want a stronger, more affordable, more united New Mexico. Together, we can make that happen — with courage, accountability, and a plan that works.
